Does Medicare cover occupational therapy in Bowie, MD?
Many of our patients use Medicare Part B. We also see people with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, and other supplemental and private plans. We check your benefits and explain any expected out-of-pocket cost before the first billed visit. If you have out-of-network PPO benefits, we can bill your plan directly. Can I get occupational therapy at home if I am not homebound?
Yes. We provide outpatient occupational therapy at our Bowie clinic and in homes across Prince George's County. Home visits are for people who are not homebound, but cannot get to the clinic because of transportation or mobility. This is not home health.
What is the difference between occupational therapy and physical therapy?
Occupational therapy helps you do daily tasks more safely, such as dressing, bathing, cooking, and moving around your own home. Physical therapy focuses more on walking, strength, and general movement. Vital Hands Rehab is an occupational therapy practice.
Do I need a doctor's referral for occupational therapy?
Some insurance plans require a physician order. If you have one, bring it. If you do not, we request it from your doctor before scheduling your evaluation. Call us and we will tell you what your plan needs.
What conditions do you treat in Bowie and Prince George's County?
We commonly help with upper extremity conditions, fall risk, stroke, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, pain, arthritis, cognitive challenges and dementia, and adults who want to stay more independent. Care can include clinic treatment, in-home therapy, a home safety evaluation, and practice with daily activities.
Do you provide occupational therapy at home in Largo or Upper Marlboro?
Yes. Home visits include Largo, Upper Marlboro, College Park, Lanham, Greenbelt, Capitol Heights, Bowie, and the other Prince George's communities on the service area page. The address is confirmed before the first visit.
