Functional movement disorders
Functional movement disorders can make a hand, a walk, or a task stop working even when the person is trying. Occupational therapy keeps the focus on one real activity at a time, with less strain and a plan that does not overwhelm.
Who this helps
- A limb or your walk changes in a way that does not match a single injury
- Tasks such as writing, eating, or standing up have become inconsistent
- Fatigue or stress makes the movement worse
- You want a calm place to practice without being rushed
What a visit includes
- One or two daily tasks chosen with you
- Practice paced so the body is not forced
- Strategies for rest and for starting a task again
- Coordination with your physician

Questions
Will therapy force the movement?
No. Sessions stay specific and unhurried. The aim is a task you can repeat, not a drill that spikes symptoms.
Where are visits?
