Hip

A sore hip or a new hip replacement changes bathing, socks, and getting in and out of bed. Occupational therapy practices those tasks and the precautions your surgeon gave you. It is not physical therapy for the hip joint.

Home visit focused on getting around safely

  • Getting in and out of bed or the car takes too much help
  • You are preparing for or recovering from hip replacement
  • You need the precautions written in plain language

What a visit includes

  • Practice with dressing, bathing, and bed transfers
  • Review of any hip precautions in everyday situations
  • A look at chair height, toilet height, and the bedroom path
  • A written plan for the first weeks at home
