After surgery

After a knee or hip replacement

After a knee or hip replacement, occupational therapy helps with the daily tasks the new joint has to live through: dressing, bathing, getting on and off the toilet, and moving through the house. This is not physical therapy for the joint.

Questions

Do you replace physical therapy after surgery?

No. Many people still see a physical therapist for the joint. Occupational therapy covers the daily tasks around that recovery.

Can the first visits be at home?

Yes. Mobile visits cover Prince George's County, which helps in the first weeks when travel is hard.
